Bantayan Island - What to do

Where Boracay has crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches, Bantayan Island supposedly has all that without the crowds and built up resorts. It'll be a long bus/boat ride from Cebu City, but I think the visit will be well worth  it.

After a 3.5 hour bus ride north from Cebu City (or 2.5 hours if taking a cab) and an hour ferry ride to the island, just getting to the island may be a little exhausting. I'm thinking we get there that first day, check in to whatever hotel we've chosen, have some lunch and then just lounge on the beach!

While lounging on the beach and in the clear blue waters is all well and good, we tend to get bored after a little while. So below are possible things to do while in Bantayan Island (um, including beach lounging, of course!)

BEACHES

Holy cow, the beaches here look gorgeous! I can't wait to cool off in the crystal clear blue waters. The wowBantayan website has photos of Bantayan Island beaches that look awesome. Apparently the best beaches are in the southern part of Bantayan in Sta. Fe where all the hotels are located.

Virgin Island

This is a secluded beach that you can get to by a short boat ride (30mins) for an afternoon trip. There is an entrance fee of P300 ($7.50) per person and while there are no accommodations for overnight stays, there are shaded picnic tables where you can have your lunch (cooked by the caretakers of Virgin Island). Cost of renting a boat with driver is P1200 ($30).

Rent a bike

For P150 you can rent a bike for the whole day and ride around the island. It'll be slow going, but it could be a nice way to visit other beaches or go to Bantayan market.
